I was responsible for the design and development of a test rig to demonstrate the capabilities and interactions of an AR-based assembly instruction system. The development process started with analyzing industry technician manuals, and categorizing assembly operations into an AR taxonomy. This taxonomy informed the design of the demo rig through the selection of 80/20 aluminum framing, cable routing, gluing actions, and DIN rail assembly. A traditional written assembly guide was created alongside an AR-based instruction manual, to compare the effectiveness of AR instructions to written or video instructions.
